Building shouldn’t happen in the dark.
Most people never see what it actually takes to develop a home: the financing, the permits, the crews, the setbacks. I show all of it on Beauty and the Build TV, because the next person figuring this out shouldn’t have to do it in the dark.
Every episode is the work as it actually happens — mistakes, lessons, wins, and the systems behind them.
From Nurse to Developer
The discipline travels.
I’m an acute rehabilitation nurse by training. That background gives me a process discipline and a care ethic I bring to every site — assess honestly, plan carefully, follow through.
People assume construction and healthcare are opposites. They’re not. Both are about systems, attention to detail, and treating the people in front of you with respect. The site changed; the standard didn’t.
What I’ve Learned So Far
The lessons I wish someone had told me.
Budget twice. Whatever you think a job costs, sit with it for a week and run the numbers again. The surprises always come from the things you didn’t cost.
Permits aren’t paperwork — they’re relationships. Knowing the inspectors, the offices, and the timelines is half the job.
The payoff is the handoff. The first time someone walks into a home with their own keys, you remember why you started.
