Why I Share It
Building shouldn’t happen in the dark.
Most people never see what it actually takes to develop a home, from financing and permits to crews and setbacks. I document every part of the journey on Beauty and the Build TV because the next person figuring this out shouldn’t have to do it in the dark.
Every episode captures the work as it truly happens, including the mistakes, lessons, wins, and the systems that make it all possible.
From Nurse to Developer
The discipline travels.
I’m an acute rehabilitation nurse by training, and that experience shaped the way I approach every project. It taught me process discipline, accountability, and a care ethic that guides my work: assess honestly, plan carefully, and follow through.
At first glance, construction and healthcare may seem unrelated. But both require discipline, thoughtful systems, and a commitment to the people you serve. The setting changed, but my standard of care stayed the same.
What I’ve Learned So Far
The lessons I wish someone had told me.
Budget twice. Whatever you think a job costs, sit with it for a week and run the numbers again. The surprises always come from the things you didn’t cost.
Permits aren’t just paperwork. They’re relationships. Knowing the inspectors, the offices, and the timelines is half the job.
The payoff is the handoff. The first time someone walks into a home with their own keys, you remember why you started.
