Our Mission

Rebuild blocks. Build people. Keep both in the community.

We believe a neighborhood’s recovery and its people’s opportunity are the same project. So we work both sides at once — restoring homes through ownership, and opening the trades and real estate to the young people who live here.

Two Entities. One Mission.

Capital on one side, the next generation of builders on the other.

For-Profit

New Ground Development

Maryland Home Builder Registration — the state-required credential for builders of new residential construction.

Building Up Baltimore

The nonprofit arm. We introduce young people to the skilled trades, teach them real skills, and guide, support, and connect them along a career path — linking them to the major players and institutions who can make that path real.

Building Up Baltimore

What we do.

Four pillars — expose, teach, experience, connect.

01

Expose

Introduce young people to the trades and the built environment, often for the first time.

02

Teach

Build real, hands-on skills through curriculum and on- site instruction.

03

Experience

Apprenticeship experiences and exposure beyond traditional construction — including commercial real estate and development.

04

Connect

Guide and connect young people to the people and institutions who open doors to a lasting career.

The Bigger Picture

When the change compounds.

A homeowner invests in a block. A young person with a trade and a network invests in a future. Do both on the same streets, at the same time, and the change compounds. That’s why New Ground and Building Up Baltimore exist side by side — capital on one side, the next generation of builders on the other.
