About New Ground Development
Community Architect — Designing Spaces of Belonging
New Ground Development builds for-sale homes in West Baltimore for the people who plan to live in them. Not rentals to hold. Not units to flip. Homes — built so that ownership, and the stability that comes with it, stays in the neighborhood.
Why “New Ground”
Disinvestment does something to a block — and to the people on it — when buildings are
left to fail and ownership leaves the community. I’ve seen it up close in West Baltimore, and I
decided I couldn’t look away.
New Ground exists to reverse that, one infill lot at a time. We develop quality for-sale
duplexes in West Baltimore’s priority neighborhoods and put them in the hands of owner-
occupants — because a homeowner doesn’t just live on a block, they invest in it.
Where you start is not where you’re meant to stay. That’s true for a neighborhood. It’s true
for the families who buy here. And it’s been true for me.
Founder Story
From acute care nurse to West Baltimore developer.
I wasn’t born in Baltimore. I grew up on the Jersey Shore and relocated to the DMV in 2018. As a nurse, the commute into DC was grueling — so I started working in Baltimore instead, and I’ve been at a Baltimore City hospital since 2019. That’s when something I didn’t plan for happened: I fell in love with the city and its people. Baltimore became the place I wanted to build a future in — and help others build one too. I build in a city I wasn’t born in because I chose it, and because I believe in what’s possible here. Nursing isn’t a detour from this work — it’s the foundation of it. As an acute rehabilitation nurse, I learned process discipline, accountability, and a care ethic that I bring to every project: do it right, document everything, and never lose sight of the person at the center of the work. A development is a kind of patient. You assess it honestly, you build a careful plan, and you see it through. I document the journey publicly — the wins, the setbacks, the learning — on Beauty and the Build TV, because the next person figuring out how to build shouldn’t have to do it in the dark.

Stacey’s talk “Born into Blight” takes the TEDxLogan Circle stage on August 11, 2026 — a public-facing case for ownership-first development as a real answer to disinvestment.
Her ongoing series Beauty and the Build TV documents the entire process in public, episode by episode — from financing to framing.
Mission with structure
Development is only half the story.
The other half is the people we’re bringing along — through Building Up Baltimore.
New Ground is paired with Building Up Baltimore, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that introduces young people to the skilled trades — exposing them to the work, teaching them real skills, and then guiding, supporting, and connecting them along a career path with the major players and institutions who can make that path real. We create apprenticeship experiences and exposure that reach beyond traditional construction, including commercial real estate and development.
Development capital on one side, the next generation of builders on the other — so the homes we build and the people who build them both come from, and stay in, the community.
What People Say
In their words.
“Stacey’s standard is the standard. She brings discipline, follow-through, and a real care for the people who’ll live in the homes we build — not just the lot, the home.”
Richard Livingston · The Kings of Renovations
“Working with New Ground means designing for a real family, not a flip. Every plan is thought through, every detail intentional.”
Opeyemi Ikotun · Yemi Atelier
